Delhi Weather Update: Time To Change Your Closet As Winters May Arrive Earlier Than Anticipated

Weather changes have commenced in Delhi, indicating an early arrival of winter this year. The minimum temperature on Thursday dropped to just 16.4 degrees, leaving people feeling the chill during the morning hours. This temperature was five degrees below the normal range. Typically, by the third week of October, temperatures may decline further, and by month-end, it will range from 13 to 15 degrees. However, it’s a rather unusual occurrence for temperatures to fall to 16 degrees even before October 15; the last time this happened was in 2018 when it reached 16.6 degrees.

In contrast, the maximum temperature on Thursday was 34.7 degrees, exceeding the normal range by one degree. This discrepancy indicates significant temperature fluctuations. The skies are anticipated to remain clear on Friday, with a maximum temperature of 36 degrees and a minimum of 17 degrees. The sky may get cloudy in the capital from October 14, possibly leading to drizzles on the night of October 15.

According to Skymet, these temperature fluctuations will persist for the next few days. A Western Disturbance will be active over the mountains at night on October 13, while a cyclonic circulation is forming in Punjab and Rajasthan. These two systems will likely impact Punjab and Haryana starting from October 14. Consequently, Delhi may experience cloudy skies and occasional rain on October 15 and 16. Although the rain is not expected to be heavy, it will bring relief from the prevailing heat and lower the temperature.
