Delhi University plans to finalize syllabus by July, Dean asked to submit FYUP syllabus by June 10

Delhi University (DU) A university official told news agency PTI that the deans of the faculties of various departments have asked to submit the syllabus for the first and second semesters of the four-year undergraduate program (FYUP) by June 10. The official said that DU plans to finalize the syllabus for the first two semesters of FYUP by July.

DU had approved the implementation of the first National education Policy (NEP) 2022 and FYUP from 2022-23 academic session. The University’s Executive Council (EC) had passed the draft Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) in February this year. It has been prepared as per NEP for the academic session 2022-23.

“We have given a deadline of June 10 to the deans of various departments to prepare the syllabus for FYUP,” the official told the news agency. He said that various departments have already prepared their syllabus and many of them are in finals. Forum.

The dean of the colleges, Balram Pani said that the syllabus is prepared by the course committees. “A curriculum committee consists of five professors – two from the department and three college professors. They submit the course to the head of the department, who then submits it to the dean of the faculties,” he said.

Thereafter, DU’s faculties will have to submit the syllabus to the standing committee, which will need to approve it. After this it will be presented before the Academic Council (AC) and EC.

“After that, the standing committee will discuss it, then it will be passed by the Election Commission and AC. By July, the syllabus will be finalised,” he said.

The university had earlier implemented FYUP in 2013, but later the Center canceled the program. However, this time, FYUP will be different from the previous one, DU has said. DU vice-chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh had earlier said that it is a flexible curriculum, adding that if students are allowed to take the courses they are interested in, they will be able to perform better.

Through FYUP, students will be able to choose between a three-year honors degree or a four-year honors degree or four-year honors in a subject with research. New FYUP will have the option of Multiple Entry and Exit Scheme (MEES) Which is suggested in NEP 2020.
