Delhi University is looking to offer B.Tech in AI, Data Science and other new age technologies

NS Delhi University (DU) A committee has reportedly been formed to start the learning process of technical courses. It has reportedly sought suggestions from education experts to prepare the syllabus for the courses. According to the report of Live Hindustan, the university will probably start technical courses including Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) from the next academic session. The classes will be conducted keeping in mind the requirements of Industry 4.0 – the fourth industrial revolution which is basically digital transformation of manufacturing/production and related industries and value creation processes.

DU’s Newly appointed Vice Chancellor Prof Yogesh Singh Said that the former Vice Chancellor of Uttarakhand Technical University, Prof. DS Chauhan is the chairman of the committee. The members of the committee also include Professor Madhusudan Singh of Delhi Technological University (DTU). DU VC has said that the suggestions given by the committee will be implemented.

DU VC Prof Singh has said that the university will introduce courses as per the requirements of Industry 4.0. He said that apart from BTech course, computer science, artificial intelligence, data analytics, Internet of Things (IoT) and some other courses will be started in the university. Every decision regarding technical courses will be taken on the basis of recommendations made by the members of the said committee.

It is our endeavor to start technical course from next session. If we are not able to start next year for some reason, we will definitely start the learning process of these courses in 2023. However, our full focus will be on launching these next year,” Prof Singh told Hindustan Times.

Pro. Singh said it was not decided whether a new campus would be built to conduct classes for technical courses.

DU’s Delhi College of Engineering was the first engineering college in the national capital. Now, it is known as Delhi Technological University. In July 2009, Delhi College of Engineering was upgraded from a minor college of the Central Government to a State University and its name was changed to Delhi Technological University through the Delhi Technological University Bill 2009.
