Delhi Transport Commissioner Ashish Kundra on Saturday boarded a state bus to take stock of the problems faced by passengers, a move that was appreciated by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot. Kundra posted a selfie of himself traveling in a government bus on Twitter. Kejriwal lauded the effort and said it was “a rare sight”. “We are a people-centric government. Our officers, ministers and MLAs are constantly working among the people. A rare sight to see the state transport commissioner get a first-hand look at the problems of commuters while traveling by state bus. ,” tweeted the Delhi Chief Minister.

Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot also appreciated Kundra’s effort. “Great to see Transport Commissioner Ashish Kundra traveling in the bus in Delhi,” he tweeted.

Kejriwal had flagged off 150 e-buses on May 24. The Delhi government has announced free travel for all in e-buses from May 24 to 26 to promote clean mobility.

According to an official statement on Friday, more than 89,000 passengers have traveled in Delhi’s electric buses since flagged off by the chief minister.

In a circular earlier this week, the transport department said it operates over 7,000 buses and is also adding low floor electric buses to its fleet of DTC and cluster buses.

The circular also includes a feedback mechanism by which the concerned officers have to fill up a proforma on various parameters on the quality of service.
