Delhi sees more cases of vector-borne diseases this year

With two more cases of dengue and chikungunya being reported in the last one week, the number of vector-borne diseases in the national capital has risen to 67 this year.

According to the data shared by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), the nodal agency in this regard, 40 dengue cases have been registered from January 1 to July 17 this year. Delhi has also reported 17 cases of malaria and 10 cases of chikungunya.

According to the civic authority, 32 cases of vector-borne diseases were reported in Delhi between January 1 and July 17 last year.

A senior SDMC official told IANS that a total of 334 breeding sites were detected during an inspection in the South Delhi region recently.
