Air India on Wednesday said it has imposed a flying ban for 30 days on a passenger who urinated on a co-passenger on a New York-Delhi flight in November last year and an internal panel has been set up to probe the matter. constituted whether there was a lapse. Separately, aviation regulator DGCA said it has sought a report from the airline on the incident and “action will be taken against those found negligent”.

According to reports, a drunken male passenger urinated on a female co-passenger during a flight from New York to Delhi on November 26.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women has written to Air India Chairman N Chandrasekaran to intervene in the matter.

The commission observed that the man’s appalling behavior towards the woman violated her right to live a life of dignity and security.

The NCW said it has received several media reports alleging that an inebriated man urinated on a female co-passenger on an Air India flight in November, but no action was taken.

It is also reported that after urinating, the man allegedly did not move until another passenger told him to, it said.

The commission said the woman had complained to the crew, who allegedly gave her a set of pajamas and slippers and asked her to return to her seat, claiming that no other seat was available.

It has written to Air India Chairman Chandrasekaran to intervene in the matter and take appropriate action against the culprits.

The commission has sought a detailed action taken report from the Delhi Police within seven days.
