Delhi Police arrested 3 gangsters of Lawrence Bishnoi gang
Officials said the Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested three members of Lawrence Bishnoi gang after a clash in which both the sides opened fire on each other.
The accused have been identified as Vivek Puri (22) resident of Bihar, Prashant Hinjrao (24) resident of Uttar Pradesh and Ashwini Kumar (25) resident of Haryana. Jasmeet Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), said, “The three gangsters were apprehended after a brief exchange of fire at around 7.15 pm on Thursday at Simon Bolivar Road near Buddha Garden.”
Police said they had received tip-off that three members of the infamous Lawrence Bishnoi gang would arrive in a car on Simon Bolivar Road near Buddha Garden at around 7 pm. Following information, a trap was laid and a team was deployed, which spotted the accused in a car at the said location, he said.
When the police tried to bring down their car, the accused tried to run away, but were blocked by the police.
Singh said that then Puri and Hinjrao came out of the car and opened fire on the police.
Police have recovered three pistols and 13 live cartridges from them. He told that apart from the Bishnoi gang, the three accused are associated with the Kala Rana gang for the last four years.
Six others, including Puri, Hinjrao and Kala Rana, were arrested in 2018 in Haryana’s Ambala in a case of murder, attempt to murder and dacoity, he said.
In that case, the accused had entered a jewelery showroom to rob, but when they encountered the workers, they opened fire indiscriminately killing one person and injuring another, police said.
He said that Puri was earlier involved in several cases of extortion, robbery, murder, attempt to murder, Arms Act etc in Bihar, Punjab and Haryana and has been arrested.
Hinjrao was involved in four criminal cases in Haryana and Punjab, and Ashwini was involved in arms supply cases in the same states. Police said he used to supply firearms to gang members of Lawrence Bishnoi and Kala Rana.
