Delhi-NCR weather: Temperatures continue to drop, air quality polluted with AQI ‘severe’

The new year started with a layer of cold wave and fog in Delhi-NCR and according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the conditions will remain till January 4. The Meteorological Department has predicted that Delhi-NCR may receive rain in January. 5, 6 and 7 while the temperature will continue to drop.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 4.2 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal. The maximum temperature on Sunday was also recorded at 20.2 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal.

The minimum temperature in Delhi will be 4 degree Celsius.

According to IMD, the maximum temperature today is 21 degree Celsius and today the minimum temperature is likely to be 4 degree Celsius. There will be moderate fog cover throughout the day and sunshine will be less.

Today the maximum temperature in Noida is expected to be 21.5 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature is 12.8 degree Celsius. Meanwhile, the sky will remain cloudy.

On the other hand, the maximum temperature in Gurugram is 21 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to be 5 degree Celsius. Today the weather will be clear.

According to the IMD, the temperature in Delhi-NCR may increase in the coming days.

AQI at critical level in Delhi

Delhi’s air quality has been a matter of concern for the last two months. Even today the air quality has been recorded at a critical level. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi today stands at 402 which is in the ‘severe’ category.

The AQI in Noida is 322 while in Gurugram it is 307.

At present, the biggest cause of concern in Delhi is air pollution, which has been recorded at either very poor or sometimes very severe levels for the past 2 months. Even today air pollution in Delhi has been recorded at a severe level.
