Delhi Metro To Have India’s First Ring Metro: 5 Facts To Know

The expansion plan of Delhi Metro is going on in full swing. As part of this development, the transporter is working on the development of the Ring Metro line in the national capital. Once the expansion project is completed, DMRC’s Pink Line will be India’s first metro. Also, with an additional 12.55 km, the Majlis Park-Maujpur corridor will be the longest metro line covering a total of 71.15 km. The project is expected to greatly benefit the cities around the Delhi NCR region. Here are 5 important facts to know about the new metro project.

Benefits of Delhi Ring Metro

The Majlis Park-Maujpur corridor of the Pink Line will improve connectivity in the National Capital Region, helping reduce road congestion. Once the Ring Metro corridor is completed, commuters from satellite cities of Delhi including Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Bahadurgarh will get the benefit of the services.

Delhi Ring Metro Connectivity

Ring Metro is one of the most important projects of DMRC. It will connect several corridors including East Delhi, West Delhi, North Delhi and South Delhi. As per reports, the corridor will carry a triple-decker metro. A flyover will be built under the metro line.

Delhi Ring Metro Station

Delhi Ring Metro will connect several stations like Burari Station, Jharoda Station, Jagatpur Village Station, Surghat Station, Sonia Vihar Station, Khajuri Khas Station, Bhajanpura Station, Yamuna Vihar Station and Maujpur-Babarpur Station.

From the Majlis Park-Maujpur corridor, the number of Metro stops on Ring Road will increase to 8, taking the total to 47 stops. These will have 11 interchange stations that will connect the Pink Line with other lines of the Delhi Metro.

Completion of Delhi Ring Metro

The extension of the Pink Line is part of DMRC’s Phase IV development plan. The entire corridor is expected to be completed by June 2024, after a delay from the original target date of September 2023. A design-build approach will be used to construct the extension. The contract for the construction of the extension has been awarded by the DMRC to a group of three businesses.

After the completion of the Majlis Park-Maujpur line, the Delhi Metro will join a select group of metro systems with over 400 kms. A well-known network of cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Moscow and London are currently members of this exclusive club.
