Delhi Metro Issues Advisory Against Making Reels In Train: Check New Guidelines

After several controversial videos filmed in the Delhi Metro over the past several weeks went viral, the DMRC on Friday urged commuters not to reel inside metro trains and warned that any activity that causes inconvenience to commuters would be strictly enforced. There is a restriction.

Recently, a video of a young woman grooving to the popular Bollywood song “Assalam-e-Ishkum” surfaced online. Earlier, other videos made inside metro trains and on station platforms went viral on social media, prompting the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to appeal to commuters to refrain from indulging in such activities.

On Friday, DMRC used nursery rhymes to make its point. DMRC said in a tweet, “Open your camera, Na Na Na! #DelhiMetro.” Along with the tweet, it also shared a poster which read, “Johnny Johny! Yes Papa? Making reels in Metro? No Papa!” The footnote on the poster reads, “Any activity that causes inconvenience to passengers is strictly prohibited inside the Delhi Metro.”

In May, a video of a young couple kissing each other inside a metro coach went viral on social media, following which the DMRC urged its commuters to “refrain from indulging in such obscene activities”. It requested commuters to “immediately report such incidents to the nearest available Metro staff/CISF, so that appropriate action can be taken”.

Social media users have reacted angrily and humorously to these videos. After the video of the couple kissing surfaced online, several social media users urged the DMRC to take action against the couple, while some questioned the need for filming the act.

Some people made fun of it. Reacting to the video, a social media user said, “The youth was doing CPR on her, what’s wrong with that?”

In a statement, the DMRC had said, “It is expected that commuters will behave responsibly while using Delhi Metro and follow all social etiquettes and protocols which are acceptable in the society”.

“Passengers should not indulge in any indecent/obscene activity which may cause inconvenience or offend the sensibilities of other fellow passengers. The Operation and Maintenance Act of DMRC has in fact made indecency a punishable offense under Section 59 lists in.”
