Delhi Metro improves connectivity to Terminal 1 IGI airport, inaugurates subway for passengers

Not anymore though, as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation today inaugurated a new subway that connects the national capital’s domestic airport arrival terminal with the Magenta Line. The 130-metre-long subway is completely underground, and was inaugurated in the presence of Vikas Kumar, managing director of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

A senior DMRC official said that each entry and exit of the metro has two escalators and two lifts along with a staircase. The lifts installed in the metro for the movement of passengers are more spacious than the normal lifts installed in the metro system and have a capacity to carry about 26 people. The metro has also been decorated with attractive artwork in line with DMRC’s efforts to portray the rich heritage of the region, the official said.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Tuesday removed two of its employees who were involved in unauthorized recharge and selling metro smart cards at subsidized rates to people outside the metro premises, officials said.
