Delhi Metro Announces Revised Timings Due To Diwali

As the country celebrates the festival of lights, Diwali, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has made a significant announcement for its commuters. In light of the festivities, DMRC has decided to alter its regular schedule for the day, affecting the closing time of metro services. This update comes as a measure to accommodate the Diwali celebrations and ensure the convenience of the metro users.

Revised Timing Information

The DMRC took to social media to share the revised schedule, notifying commuters that on Diwali, which falls on November 12th this year, the last metro will run only until 10 pm. This adjustment applies to all terminals, including the airport line. This means that all metro stations will be closed by 10 pm on Diwali night. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly and be mindful of the early closure.

No Change in the Timing of the First Metro

While the last metro will see a temporary adjustment in its schedule, the timing of the first metro will remain unchanged. The first metro will operate at its usual time of 6 am on all lines and 4:45 am on the airport line. This decision ensures that the metro services commence at regular hours for the convenience of passengers starting their journeys early in the day.

Normal Operation Days

On regular days, the Delhi Metro operates until 11 pm. However, on the occasion of Diwali, the metro gates will be locked one hour earlier than usual. This deviation from the standard schedule is a precautionary measure to allow metro staff to participate in Diwali celebrations and festivities.

Significance of Delhi Metro

Delhi Metro, with its extensive network, plays a crucial role in the daily commute of 30 to 35 lakh people. It stands as the metro system with the largest network in the country, connecting various parts of the National Capital Region (NCR). The decision to adjust the metro timings on Diwali showcases DMRC’s commitment to ensuring the smooth functioning of services while recognizing and respecting the cultural significance of the festival.

The revised metro timings on Diwali, as announced by DMRC, highlight the organization’s commitment to both the safety and celebration of its passengers. As the festival brings joy and festivities to the nation, the Delhi Metro takes a step to contribute to the spirit of Diwali, encouraging commuters to plan their journeys accordingly and participate in the celebrations.
