Sisodia termed the LG’s nomination of aldermen to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi as “unconstitutional” and accused him of changing the city government’s resolution instead of expressing his opinion.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday hit out at Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, alleging that he was acting like a “tribal chieftain to please his big boss” by “interfering” in the work of an elected government.

Addressing the Delhi Assembly on the third day of its session, Sisodia asserted that the Supreme Court has held that the LG or administrator is bound by the aid and advice of the elected government.

But far from helping or advising, the LG was not even consulting the government, he alleged, adding, “This is happening for the first time in the country.”

“As per the Constitution, the decision on local governance is to be taken by the states, not the Centre. Sisodia alleged that the Delhi LG is not following the Constitution or the decision of the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court.

He said the Delhi LG was not a tribal chief, but was acting like one by not following the Constitution or the Supreme Court. I urge the LG of Delhi not to act like a tribal chieftain to please his Big Boss, but follow the Constitution.

Sisodia alleged that the nomination of aldermen to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi by the LG was “unconstitutional” and accused him of changing the city government’s resolution instead of expressing his opinion.

“Instead of focusing on law and order, Delhi Police and land encroachment, the Lt Governor is interfering in the work of an elected government,” he said.

On Tuesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal used the Hindi proverb “Begani shaadi mein abdullah deewana” to target LG VK Saxena, questioning his authority with “he is not my headmaster”.
