Delhi is taking all necessary steps to contain the spread of Delta Plus COVID variant: Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi: The DDMA approved the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) on Friday in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Delhi Chief Secretary and other concerned officials. With this plan, there will be no more confusion about imposing the lockdown or when it will be lifted. The Delhi government is taking all necessary steps to prevent the spread of the Delta Plus variant of COVID-19 in Delhi. CM Arvind Kejriwal said that now that the GRAP is going keeping in mind the public, there will be a sense of certainty and accountability on the part of the government towards the citizens of Delhi.

The plan describes in descriptive detail when the lockdown will be imposed and when it will be lifted. The Delhi government is arranging vaccines on a war footing, but the pace is slowing down due to their frequent non-availability in between. CM Kejriwal said that if Delhi gets a regular stock of vaccines, then the Delhi government will be able to vaccinate maximum population in the shortest possible time. He said that the authorities cannot let down their guards and the Delhi government is continuously working on preparing the roadmap for an imminent third wave.

Briefing the officials present in the DDMA meeting, CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “This graded response action plan is of utmost importance. As you all know, every weekend we sit down to discuss future course of action and prepare a roadmap for the pandemic to decide what should be opened and what should not. However, this decision is a bit subjective. Now that this scheme is going before the public, there will be a sense of certainty and accountability on our part towards the people of Delhi. The plan describes in descriptive detail when the lockdown will be imposed and when it will be lifted. I don’t know if any other state has done this or not, but this is something that should be adopted at the national level as well.

CM Kejriwal insisted, “The second thing, which we all must ensure and adopt, is to conduct the vaccination program on an aggressive scale. Only and only vaccination can save us from the third wave. The Delhi government is administering vaccines at a fast pace, but due to frequent non-availability of vaccines, the pace slows down. Otherwise, all the staff, health workers and doctors have collectively worked towards expanding the network of this vaccination campaign in a big way. If we get a regular stock of vaccines, we will be able to vaccinate more and more population in the shortest possible time.

CM Kejriwal said that Delhi cannot let its guard down and the government is working on a war footing to prepare for the impending third wave. He said, “The preparations are going really well. So, I would like to thank all the experts who are holding our hands and moving ahead in preparing this roadmap. Many thanks to them.”

A graded response action plan was generated by comparing the ascending data of the four waves at specific positivity rates (0.5%, 1%, 2% and 5%). It was also considered on the basis of the earlier four waves. Further details are mentioned in the below sub-headings.

CM Kejriwal said on Twitter, “‘Graded Response Action Plan’ was passed in DDMA meeting today. There is no doubt about when the lockdown will happen and when it will be lifted. About the Delta+ (Plus) version of Kovid-19 in the meeting.” I also discussed, we have to stop this edition from spreading in Delhi, for which the government is taking all necessary steps.
