Delhi govt bans BS-3 petrol and BS-4 diesel vehicles in Delhi-NCR as AQI remains very poor

Delhi’s AQI deteriorated: After the sub-committee to operationalize the revised GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) on Sunday reviewed all the works envisaged under Phase-III of GRAP in Delhi and NCR, the Delhi government’s transport department has restricted the entry of Bs. The ban on the vehicle will continue till December 9 or the amendment at the GRAP stage, whichever is earlier.

“As per the directions under GRAP-III, the Transport Department of the Government of Delhi has decided to ban BS-III Petrol and BS-IV Diesel LMVs (4 Wheelers) in NCT of Delhi with immediate effect from the date of 9th December or until further revision at the GRAP stage, whichever is earlier,” the transport department said in an official communication.

However, the ban will not be imposed on vehicles engaged in emergency services, government and election work.

The transport department said, “If any BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel LMV (4 wheeler) is found plying on the roads, will be prosecuted under section 194 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, with a fine of Rs 20,000.” goes.”

According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the overall air quality index (AQI) of the city was recorded at 337 on Monday, which was recorded in the very poor category. The concentration of both PM 2.5 and PM 10 in the environment was recorded at 337 and 196 respectively under very poor and poor category respectively.
