The national capital had resumed under a brutal second wave of Covid, which claimed many lives with oxygen crisis and lack of beds adding to the woes of the people.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Monday that the Delhi government has again sent the file to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on the formation of a high-level committee to probe oxygen-related deaths in the city during the second Covid wave.

Sisodia said he has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the oxygen crisis in the national capital during the second wave of coronavirus and urged him to direct the Lieutenant Governor to approve the formation of the committee.

“The Center and the courts want to know the number of deaths due to lack of oxygen. But it is not possible to ascertain the exact number of people who died due to lack of oxygen during the second wave. Hence, I have again sent the file to the LG regarding the formation of a committee to probe the deaths due to oxygen crisis,” Sisodia said.

“I hope to get permission soon,” he said.

Sisodia had earlier said that Baijal had not approved the formation of a committee to probe oxygen-related deaths and compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the families of those who died due to lack of oxygen.
