New Delhi: The Delhi government on Thursday allowed organizers of Ramlila, Durga Puja, Dussehra and other religious events to use loudspeakers and public address system between 10 pm and 12 pm on October 16 “in public interest”.
However, the organizers will still need permission from the Delhi Police.
An order issued by the Environment Department said, “The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has considered the request in the public interest and permitted the use of loudspeakers and public address system between 10 pm and 12 pm with immediate effect.”
It mentions that the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has also relaxed restrictions on gatherings and large gatherings till November 15 to celebrate the upcoming festivals.
As per the latest DDMA guidelines, fairs and food stalls will not be allowed during festivals in Delhi.
Standing or sitting is not allowed at festive events in Delhi, and only sitting on chairs with social distancing is allowed.
The guidelines state that Chhath celebrations will not be allowed in public places and on river banks in the city.
