Delhi court grants one-week interim bail to Olympian Sushil Kumar in junior wrestler murder case

Sushil Kumar got interim bail: Veteran wrestler and Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar, accused of killing junior wrestler Sagar Dhankhar, has been granted interim bail by Delhi’s Rohini court for a week from July 23 to July 30. The wrestler has been granted bail for a week to undergo knee surgery and has been asked to surrender before the jail authorities on July 30. The bail has been granted on furnishing of one lakh rupees and two sureties of like amount.

The court also directed deployment of two security personnel round-the-clock to keep watch on the accused during the period of interim bail in view of the apprehension of threat to the witnesses and a reason. The court said that the family of the accused will bear the expenses of the security personnel.

After careful consideration of the medical report filed by the jail authorities and the investigating officer, the court granted bail to Sushil Kumar. The court noted in the order that perusal of the medical documents of accused Sushil Kumar reveals that he has been advised to get admitted on 24.07.2023 as the surgery is scheduled on 26.07.2023 at BLK Max Super Specialist Hospital, New Delhi.
