Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal recovers from COVID-19

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday that there is no plan to impose a lockdown yet and there will be no lockdown if people wear masks. On Sunday, the city is likely to report 22,000 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours, he said.

The Chief Minister of Delhi also appealed to the public to wear masks and not panic.

“The rising cases of COVID-19 are a matter of concern but there is no need to panic. Very few people are getting hospitalized. Wearing a mask is very important. There will be no lockdown if you continue to wear the mask. There are no plans to impose a lockdown as of now,” Kejriwal said in a virtual press conference.

The CM said that he is closely monitoring the situation of Kovid along with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and the Center.

“Our effort is to impose minimum restrictions so that livelihoods are not affected,” Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal announces recovery from COVID-19

Meanwhile, less than a week after testing positive for COVID-19, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday informed that he has recovered from the infection.

Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi, “After recovering from Corona, I am back in your service.”

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener had informed that he has tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, a day after holding a political rally in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun.

Taking to Twitter, he had said that he has mild symptoms and is in isolation at home.

A week before testing positive for coronavirus, Kejriwal had actively campaigned in the polling states of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Goa.

The state health department on Saturday said Delhi recorded 20,181 new COVID-19 cases during the last 24 hours, the highest since May 5 last year.

So far, 513 cases of the Omicron variant have been reported in the city.
