Delhi CM announces 10-point winter action plan for clean air

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced a 10-point winter action plan to control pollution, which worsens in the winter months due to various factors including stubble burning in neighboring states.

The winter action plan will focus on dust control, use of Pusa bio-decomposer, installing smog towers and checking waste burning and vehicular emissions.

Speaking to the media, he said: “At present, air pollution is under control in Delhi, but it will start increasing in winters due to stubble burning in neighboring states.”

Kejriwal claimed that the Center and neighboring states have done nothing to stop stubble burning, which will lead to increase in air pollution during the winter season. He appealed to the governments of neighboring states to work together to make the air cleaner.

He also urged the neighboring states to retrofit thermal power plants in NCR regions with new technology and ensure use of CNG-powered vehicles and clean fuel in industries in the region.

“The Delhi government has provided a solution to the problem of stubble burning in Pusa Bio Decomposer. We hope that it will be used more and more,” he said.

Apart from stubble burning, Kejriwal said the Delhi government has constituted 75 teams to inspect construction sites to control dust pollution and 250 teams to check garbage burning.

“We have put a complete ban on the sale and purchase of firecrackers. The smog tower (in Connaught Place) has given good results so far. We will continue to monitor its performance and then take a call on construction of more such towers in Delhi, The CM said.

Special teams have been formed to keep an eye on pollution hotspots. Steps will also be taken to remove traffic jams on 64 identified roads to reduce vehicular pollution. He said that 500 teams have been formed to check pollution control certificates.

The Chief Minister further said that his government is building the country’s first Eco Waste Park spread over 20 acres in Delhi.

The Chief Minister said that following the footsteps of Delhi, NCR regions should also ensure use of clean fuel in thermal power plants and other industries, CNG-powered vehicles, hotspot monitoring and round-the-clock power supply to check its use. diesel generator.
