Delhi Capitals fast bowler Enrique Nortje, who took 22 wickets in 16 matches in his debut IPL season in 2020 and helped his team reach the final of the tournament, he expressed that he would like to take it match-by-match in the second half of the IPL 2021 season in the UAE.

“This was where things started happening for me in the IPL, but I want to take it match by match this season. Even after IPL, a lot is coming to the fore. We have to try and remember what we did here last time we were here and try and apply again. Hopefully we can repeat what we did in the UAE last time we were here.”

The pacer said that the second half of the IPL 2021 season will be completely different from the first half of the season, “What worked in one place is not going to work in the other so we have to take it game-wise. The upcoming games in UAE are going to be completely different from the games we did in the first season. The teams may have different strategies in the second half of the tournament. We have to start now and just be ready.”

Nortje said that playing the IPL ahead of the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates is definitely a big advantage for all T20 players.

“Playing IPL before T20 World Cup is definitely a big advantage. We have the opportunity to adjust to the conditions and get a first-hand experience of the wickets here in the UAE. The sooner we get to know about the kind of wickets here, the better it will be for all of us. I think every team is looking to assess everything as much as possible but first we have to assess the conditions for IPL because it is definitely a big tournament in itself and then we will get to T20 World Cup .
