Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia presented the Delhi Budget for 2022-23 in the Assembly on Saturday with an outlay of Rs 75,800 crore. Sisodia said the employment budget aims to create two million jobs in the national capital within the next five years by setting up an electronic city and promoting night economy, retail and wholesale markets. The size of the budget for the next financial year is 9.86 per cent higher than the previous year – Rs 69,000 crore – Sisodia said, adding that Delhi’s economy is slowly recovering from the impact of COVID-19.
“The employment budget Will take Delhi’s economy on the path of progress and create lakhs of employment opportunities. Also said that in the budget of 2022-23, Rs 800 crore will be set aside for the purpose.
“Under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, we are aiming to increase the percentage of working population of Delhi to 45 per cent from the current 33 per cent in the next five years. That is, out of the total 1 crore 68 lakh population of Delhi, whatever employment 56 lakh people do, we will have to increase their number to 76 lakh.
He further said, “Our government has selected the following sectors as a priority to create new jobs – retail, food and beverages, logistics and supply chain, travel and tourism, entertainment, construction, real estate and green energy. ,” he adds.
As part of its “employment budget”, the Kejriwal government will organize shopping festivals to promote retail and wholesale markets in the city, to make these places attractive to tourists and to generate employment to boost the economy. . An amount of Rs 250 crore has been allocated for this. This in the budget of 2022-23. “Other states have learned a lot from Kejriwal’s model of governance when it comes to improving government schools and creating jobs. I am sure Delhiites will benefit from this ’employment budget’.
“In the next one or two years, state governments will also learn from this (employment budget) how both government and private sector can provide opportunities for the people,” Sisodia said during his budget speech. He said that an artificial intelligence-based website and a mobile application – “Rozgar Bazar 2.0” – will be launched with an aim to provide at least one lakh jobs every year to the youth of Delhi, especially women.
Sisodia said an electronic city would be set up in Baprola to create 80,000 jobs by attracting big IT companies, a “food truck policy” would also be introduced under which local cuisine would be promoted. These food trucks will be allowed on the roads from 8 pm to 2 pm, a move that is aimed at boosting the night economy in the national capital.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that smart urban farming would be promoted and turned into a mass movement in collaboration with Pusa Sansthan, which is expected to create 25,000 new jobs. The Delhi government will conduct an employment audit of the budget allocation for its departments and agencies.
