New Delhi: Two people were arrested on Sunday for allegedly threatening to attack Jawaharlal Nehru University on Independence Day, in a video uploaded on Facebook, the police said.
The accused have been identified as Vikas Sehrawat (30), who can be heard making threatening statements in the purported provocative video and Raja Youth – residents of both Uttam Nagar, They said.
According to the police, Sehrawat was earlier arrested for allegedly threatening senior Delhi Congress leader and former MLA Alka Lamba and using abusive language in a video.
He told the police that he was related to Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) from 2018.
However, the police said that they are verifying his credentials.

The Deputy Commissioner said, “We received a PCR call from a JNU student at Vasant Kunj (North) police station at 1.51 am on Sunday, stating that a video has been uploaded on the Facebook page ‘Mahakal Youth Brigade’, alleging that It has been imposed that the university will be attacked.” Police (South West) Pintik Pratap Singh said.
After receiving the PCR call, policemen in plain clothes were deployed at all the gates.
Police said that some other calls have also been received in this regard.
“The student came to the police station and lodged a complaint. A similar complaint was written by Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) office-bearers, where they alleged that the video was using inflammatory language and openly threatening bodily injury. DCP Said.
