The allegations came after Deepika Padukone dropped a series of pictures just hours before her Oscars 2023 presentation Alia Bhatt debuted at the Met Gala. While Deepika seemed to adore Alia’s pictures from the fashion gala, she has now become a cheerleader for her.
The Cocktail actress was seen leaving a comment on Alia’s post featuring behind-the-scenes moments from the gala. On Friday, Vogue released a video showing everything from Alia Bhatt’s Met Gala debut — from her first reaction to the royal dress to slipping into her dress and walking into the gala.
Deepika took to the comments section below to celebrate Alia’s debut. “You did it! ❤️” wrote Deepika in the comments, quashing all speculations that she is ‘insecure’.
Though Alia is yet to react on it, Deepika’s comment reached Reddit and users were not impressed. Many users felt that this was only damage control. A user wrote, “That’s how strong PR works..Damage control.” “Should have been a bit subtle…PR team could have done better,” read a third comment.
Deepika is no stranger to the Met Gala. She made her debut at the 2017 Fashion Gala wearing a stunning satin gown by Tommy Hilfiger. She returned to the gala in 2019 wearing a gorgeous princess gown by Zac Posen.
Meanwhile, for her debut, Alia wore a massive gown designed by Prabal Gurung embroidered with a million pearls. Talking about her look on Instagram, Alia said, “I have always been fascinated by the iconic Chanel brides. Season after season, Karl Lagerfeld’s genius shines through in the most innovative and surprising couture. My look tonight was inspired by it and specifically supermodel Claudia Schiffer’s 1992 Chanel bridal look.”
“I wanted to do something that felt authentic (hello, pearls!) and was proudly made in India. The embroidery made of 100,000 beads is a labor of love by @prabalgurung. I am so proud to be wearing you for my first mate. A girl can never have too many pearls… and the right accessories to complete the look which in our case translated into pearl bows on my hair. Oh, and it’s white, for my Chop-Ed,” he added.
