Deepak Chahar Miss England T20I, will take 5 more weeks to recover; Washington Sundar to play for Lancashire

crew India Fast bowler Deepak Chahar has opened up about his rehabilitation program at the NCA to recover from a hamstring injury he suffered during the West Indies T20I earlier this year. Injury ruled him out of this year’s Indian Premier League. The medium pacer has a tough task ahead of him to find a place in India’s squad for the upcoming T20Is. World In cup form, he said it would take him another four to five weeks to regain match fitness.

“I am bowling four to five overs at a time as per my rehab program. My recovery is going very well and I think it will take another four to five weeks for me to be fit for the match.

According to PTI, the 29-year-old looked in good shape during his morning session at the NCA.

Chahar feels that it will be tough for him to make a comeback for the England T20Is as he will have to play domestic cricket to check his fitness before making a comeback in the Indian team.

“As far as recovery is concerned, it is a step by step process. I don’t think I will be fit for England T20. Once I am match fit, I will have to play some club level games to check my fitness,” Chahar said.

When he batted for a long time, he looked very comfortable.

So can anyone expect that he will be fit for the West Indies tour?

“I can’t say that but I will definitely try and get fit by then. Let’s see,” said the swing bowler.

Apart from Chahar, another centrally contracted cricketer Washington Sundar, who is recovering from a hand injury, is currently doing his rehabilitation at the NCA along with T Natarajan.

“Washington is close to full fitness and needs a lot of time to play, which he will get only in red-ball cricket. He is going to play for Lancashire and this experience will be good for him.
