Deepak Chahar was prominent for India as the team steamrolled Sri Lanka in the second One Day International of the three-match series. Halfway through the second innings, the chances of the Indian team making a comeback in the match were slim, let alone victory. However, Chahar displayed his exceptional batting skills to lead India to a memorable three-wicket win.
With a win in the second ODI, the Men in Blue have also managed to win the three-match series 2–0. Chasing a target of 276, posted by Sri Lanka, India were bowled out for 193 for seven. However, Chahar played a brilliant innings of 69 runs and put the team to death.
Chahar along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar successfully chased down the target with a partnership of 84 runs for the eighth wicket. The seamer’s 69 not out of 82 was the second highest score by any Indian batsman batting at number eight in the 50-over format.
To celebrate Team India’s coveted win, Chahar shared some heartwarming pictures on his official Instagram handle. The pictures shared by the bowler were memorable moments from the second ODI when Chahar’s winning run was followed by other Indian players running into the ground. The 28-year-old also shared pictures of his batting. “We play for these moments,” the Agra-born wrote as the caption.
A few hours later, Chahar posted another social media post on Instagram to thank the cricket fraternity for the love and well wishes. The right-handed batsman shared a clip of him hitting a boundary off the first ball of the last over and successfully completing the run chase. Along with the video, there were also two pictures which showed Chahar celebrating the moment with his partner Bhuvneshwar.
Chahar captioned the post, “I will never forget this moment. Thank you so much for your well wishes, it means a lot.”
