Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the Union Cabinet’s decision to supply fortified rice through government schemes is in line with efforts to improve nutritional levels and advance the welfare of women and the youth population. To address the issue of malnutrition among the poor, the Center announced that it would supply fortified rice through government schemes like PDS and PM-POSHAN in three phases by 2024, a move that would cost the central exchequer Rs 2,700 crore annually. A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Modi on Thursday.

Modi also appreciated the decision to continue the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) till March 2023. He said, “We are fully committed to creating a vibrant system of research and innovation. Today’s cabinet decision on Atal Innovation Mission has given a boost to our efforts.”
