Deadline for filing income tax returns: CBDT extends due date for various ITR e-filing forms

This comes after taxpayers reported difficulties in filling these forms online. The government had earlier this year extended the deadline for filing income tax returns (ITR) to provide some relief to taxpayers amid the ongoing pandemic. In July, the deadline for filing ITR for FY21 was extended till September 30. Even a year before that, the government had given several extensions on the basis of COVID-19 relief. The recent extensions have come as several taxpayers took to social media to express the issues they faced while trying to file e-forms on the official income tax portal. In early June, the Income Tax Department launched a new tax e-filing portal to streamline the online application process. It had many features like pre-filled ITR forms and quick refund; However, it also came with a number of glitches and technical issues. One of the major issues so far is the gaps on the portal as well as some reports are full of errors. The IT department had declared the portal inaccessible from August 21. In light of this, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman joined. Sitharaman met Infosys Managing Director and CEO Salil Parekh on August 23 regarding the issues. As repairs and updates were being planned, the government had to allow manual filing of remittance forms as well as extend the due dates. E-filing of forms relating to information of Pension Fund and Sovereign Wealth Fund.

In the official statement issued by Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT)The Authority said, “Considering the difficulties reported by taxpayers and other stakeholders in electronic filing of certain forms under the provisions of the Income Tax Act, 1961, the Income Tax Rules, 1962 (Rules), the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has It has been decided to further extend the due dates for electronic filing of such forms.” The unit had also issued a tweet from its official Twitter handle informing the taxpayers about the same.

Here are the details regarding extension of due dates for e-filing of digital forms as given in the circular by CBDT: (These details will also be available on the official Income Tax Government website.)

1) Application for registration or information or approval under section 10(23C), 12A, 35(1)(ii)/(ii)/(iii) or 80G of the Act is required to be filed in Form No. 10A on or 30 June , before 2021, as extended up to 31st August, 2021, vide circular No. 12 of 2021 dated 25.06.2021, may be filed on or before 31st March, 2022;

2) Application for registration or approval in Form No. 10AB under section 10(23C), 12A or 80G of the Act, for which the last date for filing falls on or before February 28, 2022, on or before March 31 can be filed. , 2022;

3) Equalization Levy Statement in Form No. 1 for the financial year 2020-21, which was required to be filed on or before June 30, 2021, as dated August 31, 2021, as extended by circular No. 15 of 2021 dated 03.08 Was. 2021, can be filed on or before December 31, 2021;

4) Quarterly statement in Form No. 15CC to be furnished by the Authorized Dealer in respect of the remittances made for the quarter ended 30th June, 2021 under Rule 37BB of the Rules is required to be furnished on or before 15th July, 2021 , as extended vide circular No. 15 of 2021 dated 03.08.2021 dated August 31, 2021, may be submitted on or before November 30, 2021;

5) Quarterly statement in Form No. 15CC to be submitted by the Authorized Dealer in respect of the remittances made for the quarter ended 30th September, 2021, required to be furnished on or before 15th October, 2021 under Rule 37BB of the Rules , may be submitted on or before December 31, 2021;

6) Uploading of declarations received from recipients in Form No. 15G/15H during the quarter ended 30th June, 2021, which were originally required to be uploaded on or before 15th July, 2021 and later by 31st August, 2021. Circular No. 12 of 2021 dated 25.06.2021 may be uploaded on or before 30th November, 2021;

7) Uploading of declarations received from recipients in Form No. 15G/15H during the quarter ended 30th September, 2021, which is required to be uploaded on or before 15th October, 2021, to be uploaded on or before 31st December, 2021 could;

8) Information to be made by a Sovereign Wealth Fund in respect of investments made in India in Form II SWFs for the quarter ended June 30, 2021, as per circular no. 15, is required to be made on or before July 31, 2021. 2020 dated 22.07.2020, as per circular No. 15 of 30th September, 2021, dated 03.08.2021, to be done on or before 30th November, 2021;

9) Intimation to be made by Sovereign Wealth Fund in respect of investments made in India in Form II SWF for the quarter ended 30th September, 2021, as per circular no. 15, is required to be made on or before 31st October, 2021. 2020 dated 22.07.2020, can be done on or before 31st December, 2021;

10) Information to be made by the Pension Fund in respect of every investment made in India in Form No. 10BBB for the quarter ending June 30, 2021, under rule 2DB, is required to be made on or before July 31, 2021 . Rules extended up to 30th September, 2021 vide circular No. 15 dated 03.08.2021, may be made on or before 30th November, 2021;

11) Information to be made by the Pension Fund in respect of every investment made in India in Form No. 10BBB for the quarter ending September 30, 2021, under rule 2DB, is required to be made on or before October 31, 2021 . Rules, may be made on or before 31st December, 2021;

12) For the purposes of sub-section (1) of section 286 of the Act, information by a constituent entity resident in India of an international group whose parent entity is not resident in India, in Form No. 3CEAC, under Rule 10DB of the Rules is required to be done on or before November 30, 2021, may be done on or before December 31, 2021;

13) a report by a parent entity or an alternate reporting entity or any other constituent entity resident in India, in Form No. 4, for the purposes of sub-section (2) or sub-section (4) of section 286 of the Act. 3CEAD, required to be submitted under Rule 10DB of the Rules on or before November 30, 2021, may be submitted on or before December 31, 2021;

14) for the purposes of the proviso to sub-section (4) of section 286 of the Act, intimation in Form No. 3CEAE on behalf of an international group required to be made under rule 10DB on or before the 30th day of November, 2021. The rules can be made on or before December 31, 2021.
