Dead man gets COVID-19 vaccine certificate in Madhya Pradesh: Report

Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh:

A deceased senior citizen in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district allegedly received a message about taking the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and got a certificate for the same, an official said today.

Authorities have cited computer error for the glitch, in which Purushottam Shakyavar (78) of Biora town, who died in May, received a message on his mobile phone number that he had been given a second dose of the vaccine. December 3

According to Phool Singh Shakyawar, son of the deceased man, they received the message on December 3 and were able to download the vaccine certificate as well, news agency PTI reported.

Mr Shakyavar said his father had received the first dose of the vaccine on April 8. He died during treatment in Indore on 24 May.

When asked about the disturbances, District Immunization Officer Dr PL Bhagoria said that he has received information about the matter and is investigating it, the Press Trust of India reported.

He said that such a message could have been generated by a computer glitch.

Biaora’s Block Medical Officer Dr. Sharad Sahu told that since vaccination is being done on a large scale, it is possible that someone may have entered the wrong mobile number while entering, the mistake will be rectified.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA from Biaora Ramchandra Dangi alleged that the state government was misleading the people by presenting wrong statistics of vaccination.

He said such incidents are exposing the claims of the government and there should be a high level inquiry into all such cases.
