The outbreak of dengue and viral spread after corona infection in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh is not yet completely over that Zika virus has started spreading its feet.
Zika infection was found in another woman in Kanpur. The Microbiology Department of King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow has confirmed the infection. In this way, Zika infection has been found in a total of 11 patients in the city so far.
Five of them are women. A pregnant woman is also vulnerable to infection. On Monday, the Health Department teams surveyed two and a half thousand houses in Chakeri area and sampled Zika suspected fever patients. In view of the spread of Zika infection, three km radius of Chakeri area has been declared as a Containment Zone.
Here the list of pregnant women and fever patients is being prepared. On Monday, a 45-year-old woman from Sivakatra was confirmed with Zika. After getting infected in Shivkatra, the infection of Zika has now spread to 10 localities of Chakeri.
Earlier, infected have been found in Pokharpur, Adarshnagar, Sheynagar, Kalibari, Ompurwa, Kakori, Lalkurti, Poonam Talkies and Kajikheda. Samples are being sent to NICD Delhi for testing after catching Aedes aegypti mosquitoes from the locality where Zika is getting infected. DM Visakh G. Said that two and a half thousand houses of the Containment Zone have been surveyed and the suspects have been sampled. So far 639 people have been sampled. Of these, 109 are pregnant women. Along with this the breeding sites of mosquitoes are being destroyed.
Four new dengue patients found
Four more dengue patients have been found. With this, the number of dengue active cases has gone up to 48. New patients have been found in Harshnagar, Patara, Rahmatpur and Bilhaur. Health Department organized health check-up camps at 10 places. Samples of 115 fever patients who came to these camps have been sent for examination. So far the total number of dengue infected in the city is 505. 381 infected have been found in rural and 124 in urban areas. Malaria was tested in 480 samples. Their report has come negative.
