The case pertains to the alleged leak of confidential data and documents from the SID. A case has also been registered against five unidentified people. Fadnavis denied leaking any data in the public domain regarding the scam. He said that not only did he act responsibly by apprehending the presser who exposed the transfer scam, but he also avoided giving pen drives and tapes of data to anyone.
“I did not bring any document in the public domain except the covering letter of the report, as I knew the information contained in it was sensitive. I handed over all the documents and data to the Union Home Ministry. It was Malik who leaked the tapes to the press.
