CUET will be based on 12th syllabus, will not make board exams irrelevant: UGC chief

new Delhi: University Grants Commission Chairman Jagdish Kumar on Tuesday said that the Common Entrance Test (CUET) will be completely based on the syllabus of class 12 and no questions will be asked from class 11.

He also said that CUET will not make board exams irrelevant, news agency PTI reported.

The UGC chief said that CUET will not promote ‘coaching culture’.

He also said that the National Testing Agency (NTA) will consider conducting the Common Entrance Test (CUET) twice a year from 2023.

Kumar said that the students of state boards will not suffer and this exam will give equal opportunity to all the students.

Kumar further added that top private universities are interested in using CUET to admit students to undergraduate courses.

Last week, the UGC chairman said that state, private and deemed universities will use CUET scores for admission to undergraduate programmes.

He further added that with CUET, there will be no need for students to write multiple exams for admission to UG programmes, news agency ANI reported.

He claimed that with CUET, students do not have to worry about getting high results in class 12th and do not have to write many tests.
