Delhi University (DU) on Friday advised candidates to go through the syllabus of all programs thoroughly before choosing their preferences for admission through CUET UG 2023, as many existing students admitted that they did not know the language which he had chosen.

In an advisory to candidates seeking admission in DU colleges, the university said that in the last academic session, candidates had taken the sole route of taking admission in a certain college despite having no prior knowledge or competencies required to pursue the course and field. The advisory is given by many students of BA program due to not knowing the chosen language. He has also written several letters to the university for permission to change the subject.

“It has been observed by the University that many a times candidates choose programs with the sole aim of getting admission in a certain college, irrespective of any prior knowledge or competencies required to pursue the programme/field of study.

“For example, to pursue certain language-related programs, working knowledge/proficiency in reading and writing in a specific language may be a prerequisite,” the varsity wrote in the statement.

The university reiterates that students aspiring to join DU will have to appear in CUET (UG)-2023 and also fill Common Seat Allocation System Undergraduate. While filling the CSAS (UG) – 2023 form, candidates have to give preference for the combination of program and college.

“It may be noted that admissions in University of Delhi are strictly based on CUET merit score and preferences selected by the candidates. Admission once confirmed/freeze for any program will not be changed during the course of study,” the statement said.

“Hence, before giving preference on the CSAS (UG) 2023 portal, candidates are advised to go through the syllabus of all the programs they wish to join in the university,” the varsity said.
