Common University Entrance Test: While making a big announcement, UGC Chairman Professor M Jagadesh Kumar said that CUET has got tremendous support. This year more than 11 and a half lakh candidates have registered for the first CUET UG entrance exam itself. Many more universities are yet to join it. Hence, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) may be conducted twice a year in the coming years.
The registration process for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG 2022 has been concluded by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday, May 22. A day later, UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar tweeted that a total of 11,51,319 candidates have registered for CUET-UG and 9,13,540 candidates have paid the application fee. This is a record. He informed that students from almost every state and union territory have applied for CUET-UG. Many of these are from remote and rural areas.
In a series of tweets, he said that CUET will now provide fair opportunities to the students to get admission in reputed universities as they will not be under pressure and burden of securing high percentage in board examinations. To get into the cut off limit list of 99 to 100 per cent marks in the board examinations for admission in a good university, the students had to go through a lot of hard work and stress. Without the burden of scoring too much marks, students can now try for admission in the best universities through CUET.
Professor Kumar also explained how the participation of Central Universities is helping in the focus of CUET UG. He said that participation of large number of universities in CUET is also very encouraging. In the coming years, many more universities are expected to adopt the CUET admission process. Regarding this, he also indicated that CUET is likely to be conducted twice a year from the next academic session.
Last week, the National Testing Agency had started the online application registration process for Common University Entrance Test (CUET PG 2022) for admission to post graduate courses after the announcement by UGC Chairman Professor M Jagadesh Kumar. The last date for submission of CUET PG application form is 18 June 2022.
