CUET 2022 ANALYSIS: Students say maths long on day one, most options for English in language

In the domain subject section, students said that the questions were from NCERT syllabus. “They found those domain subjects to be easy. Students found mathematics to be a bit difficult and lengthy. Commerce students especially economics subjects were easy. Many students were able to complete the section five minutes earlier,” Amitendra Kumar , Product Head, CUET and Graduate Programs, said Career Launcher.

During this, Many candidates missed the exam Due to change in the last time of the centre. V Sneha, a student who had three subjects exam on the first day, said that it was good. “I didn’t expect it to be that easy. But it was a bit long, especially the calculation part,” she told PTI.

Kumar said that the students found the first section easier than the mock test paper. There was more focus on comprehension. “Most of the students chose English as a part of the first section, with the language as the medium of instruction for most. The questions based on the passages were direct and factual. Questions based on vocabulary and grammar including synonyms, para jumbles, idioms, fill in the blanks, shape of speech, analogy, word substitution were also in the section,” Kumar said.

For the last section, General Examination, questions were based on Current Affairs including Basic Mathematics, Simplification, Basic Calculation, Economics, Polity, Legal Knowledge, Personality, Science, Sports, Books and Authors etc. “Around 25 questions were based on this. Balance on numerical ability and reasoning including current affairs and visual reasoning, which is close to the mock tests given by NTA,” Kumar said.

CUET 2022 will continue till 20th August. In its first year one million students have applied for the exam. The Computer Based Test (CBT) mode conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) will be conducted in two slots per day. There are around 60,000 combinations of subjects in CUET. Although 1 million candidates have applied for the exam, every candidate Have applied to at least five universities on average NTA had earlier said that thus the total number of applications has crossed 50 lakhs.
