Solutions of metals such as copper, nickel and cadmium were also found along with toxic chemicals from the waste. Due to its highly acidic nature, this liquid could prove to be dangerous for the life of humans or animals. “Toxic waste is dangerous for the environment. It was brought from Ankleshwar and had to be delivered at some CETP instead of dropping it directly into the drain,” said the police.
Through drainage, the waste goes into the creek and eventually into the river or the sea. The police suspect that the accused truck owner has signed a contract for disposal of dirty water coming out of an industrial unit in Ankleshwar.
“The waste should be treated before leaving it in the open. He will have to sign a contract with some CETPs to treat the waste. But to save money, the accused were releasing the dirty water without any treatment.
