Crude bomb blast at RIMS Hospital ahead of Manipur elections; Spokesperson expelled from BJP said ‘attack’

A country-made bomb went off inside the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal on Friday, hours ahead of the second and final phase of assembly elections in Manipur.

It was found that CH Bijoy, the chief spokesperson of the expelled BJP from Manipur, was inside the hospital premises when the blast took place at 9 pm. Bijoy was not hurt in the blast, but he alleged political conspiracy after the “attack”.

The CCTV footage showed two youths on motorcycles hurling crude explosives in front of the gate and running away from the spot. Regional Institute of Medical Sciences is the largest medical institute in Manipur. Till the filing of this report, no police was investigating the incident.
