Crime Branch Books for passing casteist remarks to BB Tamil contestant and actress Meera Mithun

Chennai: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Chennai Police on Sunday registered a case against model-turned-actress Meera Mithun for using casteist slurs against Scheduled Caste people. In an interview to a YouTube channel, the actress was seen making derogatory remarks against him. This video, which is going viral on social media platforms, has angered him and put him in trouble.

In the video released on August 7, 202, the actress has said, ‘Generally I will not speak about people belonging to Scheduled Castes. But they are involved in criminal and illegal activities and hence they are facing all kinds of problems. No one will unnecessarily speak ill of Scheduled Caste people.

He further added, “In industries also, SC directors and others are doing all kinds of illegal activities. It is time to throw out SC people and directors from the industry.”

In the video, the actress was also seen lashing out at a director for allegedly using her picture for the first look of a film and cursing her with derogatory words. There is outrage from many sections on this video going viral on social media. Based on a complaint by Viduthalai Siruthigal Katchi Deputy General Secretary Vanni Arasu, the police have registered a case under sections 153 (abetment or willful provocation with intent to cause rioting), 153A(1)(a), 505. (1) (b) of several sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act (with the intention of causing or likely to cause fear among the public).
