The first Test match of the white series for India will be played in Nagpur on 9 February.
“Obviously, everybody wants to play Test cricket. You start your cricket at the domestic level, playing only with the red ball, and I played for Mumbai. We all know how exciting the series will be, but at the same time, it’s about living in the present and focussing on how to give our best for tomorrow’s game, then we have everything to think about for the Test. There is time,” said Suryakumar at the press conference ahead of the third T20I
Suryakumar played a brilliant knock against New Zealand in Lucknow to help India level the series 1-1. He scored 26 runs* off 31 balls and completed his job by scoring the winning runs.
The Mumbaikar credited his exploits in domestic cricket to his composure while batting in tense situations.
“I have played a lot of domestic cricket before making my international debut, which has helped me a lot.
He said, ‘You have to work hard on yourself and the hard work you have while playing on different challenging pitches, I take it forward from there. The rest I have learned by watching and talking to so many senior players in the team. I try to give my best in every match.”
The world’s No. 1 T20I batsman has come a long way since making his debut against England on March 14, 2021, at the same venue.
