Crew declared Emergency on 7 flights this year: V K Singh in Lok Sabha

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) revealed that the operating crew declared emergency on seven flights since January 1 this year. In a reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation VK Singh said that the emergency was declared by the crew of two flights each of IndiGo, SpiceJet and Air India Express and one flight of Air India. These are examples after January 1, 2022. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has a system of conducting regular monitoring, including spot checks and night surveillance to ensure that operators/ organizations continue to meet regulatory provisions, he said.

The minister also said that the DGCA initiates special audits if there is a rise in incidents indicating the possibility of non-adherence to procedures.

In response to a query, Singh said that regular recruitment and training including augmentation is conducted to meet the manpower requirement of ATCOs (Air Traffic Controllers) for smooth and effective functioning of air navigation services at airports.

He said, “Government has approved creation of additional 340 posts of ATCOs in Airports Authority of India (AAI) in May, 2022. Also, the result of recruitment against 400 vacancies of Junior Executive (ATCO) will be declared on 28.11.2022.” Has been done.” ,

Asked whether the certification scheme for drones is likely to create an ecosystem for world-class drones to be manufactured in the country, Singh replied in the affirmative.

The government notified the certification scheme for unmanned aircraft systems (CSUAS) on January 26 and ensures that the type certified drone meets the minimum airworthiness required for safe operation.

Singh said, “So far, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has issued type certificates to five companies: IoTTechworld Navigation Pvt Ltd, CBAI Technologies Pvt Ltd, Asteria Aerospace Ltd, Dhaksha Unmanned Systems Pvt Ltd and General Aeronautics Pvt Ltd.”

Further, the minister said that the quality ecosystem created by CSUAS requires competent manpower such as design engineers, system engineers, embedded engineers and drone pilots, thereby promoting the cause of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
