CoWin vaccination certificate for international travelers will have full date of birth: NHA CEO

According to Dr RS Sharma, CEO, National Health Authority (NHA), those who have taken both doses of COVID-19 vaccines and wish to travel abroad will have a CoWin vaccination certificate with their complete date of birth.

The date will follow the format “yyyy-mm-dd” (year-month-day) and will be in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) standards for international travellers.

Speaking to ANI, Dr. Sharma said, “As the world is slowly opening up for business and travel, we are working relentlessly to ensure that international travelers can travel stress-free. This new facility And the format of date of birth will be “yyyy-mm-dd” format as per WHO standards for international travelers.

He said that every person traveling abroad can update their vaccination certificate on CoWin by entering their date of birth as per their passport and download the certificate again.

“At present we have collected only the year of birth which is reflected in the certificate as the age of a person,” Dr Sharma said.

The United Kingdom on 22 September issued its new travel guidelines to include the Indian-made version of the AstraZeneca vaccine in its updated list of approved COVID-19 vaccines. Covishield’s recognition comes after severe criticism over the UK’s initial refusal to recognize the vaccine.
