Covid: Slight increase in fresh infections was observed in 11 Tamil Nadu districts. Coimbatore News – Times of India

CHENNAI: The fresh cases of COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu decreased to 1,819 on Saturday when around 11 districts including Pudukottai, Krishnagiri, Tiruppur and Ranipet saw a marginal increase compared to the cases reported on Friday. The deaths also rose to 27 from 24 on Friday.
The marginal increase in cases in these districts slowed the rate of decline in cases. While there was a drop of about 42 cases from 1,872 on Thursday to 1,830 on Friday, the difference between Friday and Saturday was narrowed to just 11. After the discharge of 2,583 people from the State Covid Registry, there were 24,025 people in the Active Registry. The health secretary said, “One of the important things that will help us to keep the infection down is individual choices and discretion on proper handling of COVID. Masks and social distancing will play a big role apart from getting the vaccines on time.” J Radhakrishnan. “We are also continuously monitoring the variants,” he added.
On Saturday, barring four districts – Coimbatore (175), Erode (132), Chennai (127) and Salem (107), all other districts of the state reported less than 100 cases. There has been a slight decline in cases in these four districts as compared to Friday. While there were 26 districts with less than 50 cases, there were 12 districts with less than 25 cases each. perambalur Seven cases reported – lowest, followed by tenkasi (9), Theni (11) and Ramanathapuram (12). On Friday, Perambalur reported 8, while Theni and Ramanathapuram reported ten cases each, Tenkasi reported 11 cases.
Active cases in Coimbatore dropped to 2,154 on Saturday, followed by Erode at 1,684 and Chennai at 1,604. By the end of the day, public health workers reported 1.4 . took samples from lakh People. Meanwhile, over 2.5 lakh people received vaccination at government centres, taking the total dose of vaccination at public centers to 1.94 crore. Since May 1, 13.88 lakh people have been vaccinated in private hospitals in the state.
