COVID-19 India News Updates: India recorded 1,761 new cases of the novel coronavirus with 127 deaths due to the infection in the last 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday (March 20), a total of 3,196 discharges took place in the country in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate to around 98.73 per cent and the total recovery data reaching 4,24. ,65,122.
The total active cases of COVID-19 in India has come down to 26,240, data from the ministry showed today.
The total death toll in the country now stands at 5,16,479. In India, the first death due to the COVID pandemic was reported in March 2020.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 78,26,60,658 samples have been tested for COVID-19 till March 19. Of these, 4,31,973 samples were tested on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Delhi reported 61 fresh COVID-19 cases and one death on Saturday, while the positivity rate stood at 0.68 per cent, according to data shared by the city’s health department. Relatively fewer cases were reported from the small number of tests conducted the day before – 9,011 – which was a holiday in view of the festival of Holi.
With 61 fresh cases, the number of cases in the national capital rose to 18,63,694, while the death toll rose to 26,146, the latest health bulletin said. Delhi had reported 140 new cases on Friday with a positivity rate of 0.43 per cent and zero fatalities. The city had reported 148 cases on Thursday with a positivity rate of 0.47 per cent and one death.
On March 5, 6, 10, 11, 13 and 14 also, the city had recorded zero fatalities. There has been a decline in the number of daily cases in Delhi after touching a record high of 28,867 on January 13.
The city had recorded a positivity rate of 30.6 per cent on January 14, the highest during the ongoing wave of the pandemic. Amid a drop in the daily cases of COVID-19 in Delhi, the number of patients under home isolation here has also dropped significantly in the past few weeks. The total number of home isolation cases stood at 12,312 on February 1 and came down to 393 on March 19.
