BEIJING: China recorded its highest daily increase in local COVID-19 cases in 21 months, as infections more than doubled in Xian, China’s latest city. covid hot spot.

The city has declared no infection due to omicron variant, although Chinese authorities have reported a handful of omicron infections in international travelers and southern China.
Including imported cases, mainland China confirmed 206 new cases on December 25, up from 140 the day before.
There were no new deaths, leaving the cumulative death toll at 4,636. As of 25 December, Mainland China had 101,077 confirmed cases.
