Covid-19 updates: 2,86,384 new cases, 573 deaths and 3,06,357 recoveries reported

New Delhi: India has reported 2,86,384 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the total number of Covid-19 cases to 4,03,71,500, according to the Union Health Ministry’s data updated on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 4,91,700 after 573 fresh people died in the last 24 hours.

The ministry said the active cases have come down to 22,02,472 and comprise 5.46 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has come down to 93.33 per cent. A decrease of 20,546 cases has been recorded in the active Covid-19 caseload in a 24-hour period.

The number of people recovering from the disease increased to 3,76,77,328 and the death rate was recorded at 1.22 percent. The cumulative dose administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign has exceeded 163.84 crore.

With the administration of 22,35,267 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage stands at 1,63,84,39,207 as of 7 am today, provisional reports.

Testing capacity continues to expand across the country. A total of 14,62,261 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. India has conducted 72,21,66,248 cumulative tests so far. Testing capacity has been ramped up across the country, the weekly positivity rate in the country currently stands at 17.75% and the daily positivity rate is also reported to be 19.59%.
