COVID-19 Alert: 1,757 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the national capital with six deaths. The positivity rate was recorded at 28.63 percent on Wednesday. Maharashtra, on the other hand, reported 1,100 new coronavirus infections and four fatalities.

The national capital reported 1,757 new COVID-19 cases along with six deaths on Wednesday, taking the positivity rate to 28.63 per cent, according to data shared here by the health department. With the new deaths, the death toll from the pandemic in Delhi rose to 26,578. Of the 7,967 beds, 377 are occupied. The national capital recorded 1,537 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday with a positivity rate of 26.54 per cent.

Maharashtra has recorded 1,100 new coronavirus infections and four deaths, the health department said in a bulletin. There are now 6,102 active cases in the state. The state’s COVID-19 case tally has risen to 81,58,393 and the death toll to 1,48,489. The state recorded 949 cases and six deaths on Tuesday.

Mumbai recorded 234 cases and one death on Wednesday. One death each was recorded in Thane city, Pune city and Satara districts.

The death rate in Maharashtra is 1.82 percent. According to the health department, XBB.1.16 is the predominant form of coronavirus in the state, with a total of 681 cases of infection found. Five deaths occurred in such cases, the bulletin said.
