Covid-19: Dakshina Kannada active caseload up 63% in a fortnight Mangaluru News – Times of India

MANGALURU: COVID-19 active caseload in Dakshina Kannada District A growth of 63% was seen within just a fortnight.
The number which was 2,010 on July 25 gradually increased to 3,294 on Saturday. More than 70% (2,376) of the 3,294 active cases were reported in the last seven days.
The district’s active caseload, which was 4,334 on July 1, had come down to 1,933 on July 14. But after that, the cases continued to rise.
While 1,740 cases were reported in the district in the first week of July, it rose to 2,376 in the first week of August.
However, the death toll of Kovid is less as compared to the previous month.
While 87 people died in the first week of July in the district, the number came down to 36 in the same period in August.
The district is conducting an average of 7,000 RT-PCR tests daily. A total of 2.2 lakh tests were conducted in July.
DHO Kishore Kumar Mohd Told STOI that the district is prepared to face a possible third wave.
“We are not in a position to analyze what went wrong and how the first two waves came to the district. We also cannot predict when and how the third attack will happen. So we need to be prepared and do everything possible to stop the virus from spreading.”
The district has already closed inter-state bus services and strengthened border surveillance to contain the spread of the virus from Kerala, where the spread of COVID-19 continues to rise.
