Covasin’s fate will be decided on October 5, WHO will sit to discuss Indian corona vaccine

The World Health Organization’s Strategic Advisory Group on Immunization Experts is scheduled to meet on 5 October to decide on the urgent need to approve Covacin. Significantly, for several days, speculations were being made about the approval of Covasin. However, Bharat Biotech declined to comment on the matter before clearing it.

The Hyderabad-based organization wrote in a tweet this evening, ‘We have responded to all clarifications sought from WHO. We are waiting for the rest of the response to end. As the responsible manufacturer of many pre-specified vaccines, we do not consider it appropriate to speculate or comment on the approval process and its duration.

Significantly, India Biotech has been trying to apply to the World Health Organization on an urgent basis for a long time. Recently, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandabiya had approached the World Health Organization (WHO) seeking approval of Covasin. He met the chief scientist of the world’s highest health institute. India Biotech does not want to comment on the matter till it is approved.
