Couple dies after autorickshaw falls into roadside well in Tamil Nadu Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: Death of a man and his wife goods autorickshaw they were traveling by falling on the side of the road Well in Muthur Tiruppur district of Tamil Nadu on Thursday. His daughter managed to get out of the vehicle and fled.
The deceased have been identified as 55-year-old N Vadivel and his wife V Bhanumathi (50) of Avathipalayam village in Namakkal district.
Police said Vadivel was engaged in setting up marquees and stage for temple festivals and other events. A few days ago, he had set a stage for the Chelandiyamman temple festival at Chinna Muthur near Vellakovil in Tiruppur district. Vadivel Bhanumathi and her 12-year-old daughter V Agalya, a Class VII student, went to the temple on Wednesday evening. The temple function concluded early on Thursday.
Vadivel loaded a genset and material onto his goods autorickshaw. The family members were returning to their homes in an autorickshaw. Vadivel drove the vehicle. When the family members reached near Chennakkalamedu in Muthur around 7.45 pm, Vadivel fell asleep on the wheels for a while and lost control of the autorickshaw.
The autorickshaw fell into the well located at least four meters away from the road. Agalya opened the side door of the autorickshaw and managed to get out of the auto. She climbed up from the well and sought help from the villagers who reached the spot.
“It was a 70 feet deep well and had 45 feet of water in it. the villagers could not save couple, Villagers alerted the police and fire and rescue service personnel,” said J Ramadevi, police inspector, Vellakovil police station.
