Yavatmal: Yavatmali Police teams on Monday arrested a couple from Kurha Dumane village for the alleged murder of a three-year-old girl. Arni Police station. The body was recovered from the water tank in a mutilated condition.
Arni police had received a complaint on December 20 about the disappearance of his daughter Maanvi by the name of Avinash Prakash Chole. SP Dr Dilip Patil Bhujbal said, “The girl was kidnapped when she was playing in the backyard of her house.”
The SP formed four special teams which camped at Arni. The sniffer dogs took the police to the kitchen of Deepali alias Pushpa Gopal Chole. The police took Deepali and her husband Gopal into custody. The SP told that Avinash and Gopal are cousins.
Bhujbal said it was too early to reveal the motive behind the murder. “We looked at four main reasons,” he said.
“On interrogation, Deepali confessed to kidnapping and killing the girl on December 20. The body was placed in a drum. She could not dispose of the body due to tight police vigil.
Later, the couple reportedly shifted the body to a water tank in their backyard. The police dog took the police to the tank from where the body was recovered and sent for postmortem.
Arni police have registered a case of murder and started further action.
The couple will be produced in the court for taking PCR.
